When I went to visit a dear friend in Arlington, Virginia, number one on my list was making it out to << Salt & Sundry >>. After about thirty-five dollars in Uber fares, I made it to the creativity epicenter that is << Union Market >>. Not only can you lay eyes on the most beautifully curated goods at S & S, you can also eat about anything your heart desires. That's a win-win in my book.
I could spend HOURS in this gorgeous place. So many ethnic treasures and special pieces >> it is the perfect spot to pick up a unique gift. I reached out to the creatives behind this sweet little shop, and here's what they had to say >>
How did Salt & Sundry get its start >>
Salt & Sundry was born out of a passion for hospitality and entertaining. Our shop owner, Amanda, opened the Union Market shop four years ago to share the products she loved and the stories of her favorite makers with the DC community. We've since opened a second shop in Logan Circle, and have been thrilled with the response. We love opening our doors to thoughtful shoppers looking for the perfect hostess gift or a colorful throw pillow to transform a room.
Where do you source your products from >>
We source globally; from small batch bitters made in DC, to fair trade handwoven baskets from Rwanda. We're always on the lookout for beautiful, thoughtfully crafted products to fill our shelves.
Are there any differences in the products carried in your two locations >>
We carry mostly the same products at both shops, however our Union Market shop is bigger so the selection there is a bit more extensive.
What is your fave item in the shop currently >>
It's so hard to pick just one! We're in love with the << sunset pillows >> from Natural Habitat, a great fair trade company that works with artisans in India. We're also crazy about the collection of American-made dinnerware we just picked up from << WRF Lab >>. Each piece is handmade in Southern California and inspired by the maker's Japanese roots.
So there's good news and good news. Salt & Sundry has a lot of their goods available online << here >> ( and you can also get loads of inspiration from their << Instagram >>). AND they have offered 10% all online orders through October 15th, limit one per customer, by using code POSTEDBYCHERYL. Shop on, friends!
